Property Description: Rodney Hopper of Century 21 Poss Realty presents a video tour of Lake Yonah - Toccoa, GA 30577.
Lake Yonah is located in the northeast Georgia Mountains about 2 hours from Atlanta. It is part of the Georgia Power Tallulah River chain of lakes and is the sixth lake in the chain, downstream from the Tallulah Gorge and from Lake Tugalo which is also fed by the Chatooga River. Lake Burton in Rabun County is the first lake in the chain.
Road access to the north end of the lake is from US 441 at Tallulah Falls via Scenic 441 and Yonah Dam Road which ends at the Yonah campground where there is a boat ramp. Access to the south end of the lake is from GA 365 and Prather Bridge Road out of Toccoa to Yonah Dam Road. There is also a boat ramp on this end of the lake. Habersham and Stephens Counties in Georgia border the west side of the lake and Oconee County, South Carolina borders the east side. Lake Hartwell is the next lake downstream. Lake Yonah has 9 miles of shoreline and 325 acres of surface area.
The dam which was built in 1925 is 90 feet high and has a span of 980 feet. There are only 85 residential lots on the lake which leaves the majority of shoreline in natural foliage. The surrounding mountain terrain is impressive. Being in somewhat of an out of the way location, the lake is offers a tranquil place to escape in contrast to most heavily populated lakes located closer to main thoroughfares. Since Lake Yonah is not crowded, it is a great lake for water skiing, a relaxing pontoon boat ride or fishing the day away. .
